DESCRIPTION

SILMATE 1996 Translucent Silicone Structural Glazing Sealant is a one-part neutral cure, construction grade sealant, especially designed and tested for structurally glazing curtain wall applications. It quickly cures at room temperature by reaction with moisture in the air to produce a durable, flexible silicone rubber seal.

APPLICATION

Point-fixed Spider system curtain wall and glass butt joint applications.

TYPICAL PROPERTIES

SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE

When stored at or below 27℃(86°F) in the original unopened containers, this product has a usable life of 12 months from the date of manufacture. Refer to product packaging for "Use By" date.

LIMITATIONS

Not recommended for building materials that bleed oils, plasticizers, or solvents-materials such as impregnated wood, oil-based caulks, green or partially vulcanized rubber gaskets or tapes. Not recommended for use in totally confined spaces as the sealant requires atmospheric moisture for cure. Not recommended for continuous water immersion applications. Not recommended for use on frost-laden or wet surfaces. Not recommended for places where painting of the sealant is required, as the paint film may crack and peel. Do not apply at temperatures below 4℃ or above 40℃.
